CAHNRS and Extension Technical Support

Obtaining Support:

To request support for computer hardware, software, or network configurations, please visit our Web site http://eces.wsu.edu/CWR/ and navigate to the Online Request. You may also contact our support staff leads by phone or email:

            Jim Buscher       •          509-335-2813     •         buscher@wsu.edu
            Vida Jones         •          509-335-2810     •         hatleyv@wsu.edu

Our support work queue (http://cru.cahe.wsu.edu/cgi-win/support/SupportQueue.asp) operates on a “first in, first out” philosophy. We escalate priority for non-functionality problems, such as computer “blue screens,” network outages, email or communication outages, and virus/worm attacks.

We have several computer-related email lists to which you may wish to subscribe. The two primary email lists are the CAHNRS Computer Users Group (cahnrscug) and the Web Weavers for Web site design (weavers). To subscribe to either of these lists, send an email to join-cahecug@lyris.cahe.wsu.edu or
join-weavers@lyris. cahe.wsu.edu.

Microsoft Exchange Email, Calendaring, and Collaboration Tools
The college and WSU Extension uses the Microsoft Exchange email and calendaring system. This system allows integration with Outlook email client, the ability to share calendars, encrypted email, secured web access, and access from Windows Mobile 5 PDA type devices. We also offer Microsoft Sharepoint collaboration sites.

To request an Exchange email account or for help in converting your existing email, please contact Jim Buscher at 509-335-2813 or buscher@wsu.edu.

Network Design, Internet Security, and Firewalls
The CWR unit has extensive experience with wide area and local area network design and implementation. This includes router and firewall configuration. For assistance with these projects, please contact Jim Boyer at 509-335-2838 or boyerj@wsu.edu.
